INGS Anti-Aging Perspective: Fight Against Light Before Fighting Against Aging

INGS believes that, in addition to age, the causes of aging may also have non-linear correlations with ecological environment, lifestyle habits, emotional stress, and so on. Therefore, we have launched the "INGS Anti-Aging Perspective" blog column to share insights into skin aging research and help improve the scientific knowledge of skincare.

The first chapter of the Anti-Aging Perspective

This article focuses on discussing photoaging, which is unavoidable for contemporary young people.

Insight 1:
Photoaging is a type of extrinsic aging, which includes but is not limited to ultraviolet radiation, as well as blue light damage caused by electronic screens

The causes of photoaging are divided into ultraviolet (UVA, UVB) and blue light. It exists in the sun exposure during commuting, radiation from working in front of a computer on weekdays, staying up late to look at mobile phones on weekends... and has almost become an "invisible companion" of contemporary young people. At the same time, research shows that 80% of skin aging is caused by photoaging, while the remaining 20% is caused by natural aging.

Insight 2:
The culprit behind dullness, aging, sensitivity, and redness is photoaging. Despite daily emphasis on cleansing and sun protection, skin may still appear dull and sensitive, and pimples and closed comedones may appear for no apparent reason after long hours of computer work, all of which are considered direct manifestations of skin photoaging.

Research shows that photoaging accelerates oxidation reactions and cell damage, leading to melanin deposition. In addition, photoaging accelerates the loss of collagen VII, which is believed to be one of the causes of skin wrinkling.

Insight 3:
Is sun protection enough to combat photoaging?

Research suggests that over 90% of ultraviolet (UV) rays are UVA. UVA has stronger penetration ability compared to UVB and can reach the dermis layer of the skin. UVA is the primary spectrum of light that causes skin photoaging, and this damage cannot be blocked by SPF sunscreens.

The protective ability of sunscreen products is currently known to be limited to UV rays, while blue light protection still requires skincare products to fill the gap. The Anti-pollution Fighter series selects wild Plum Bud from Shexian County, Anhui, and extracts the "White Plum Light Protection Factor" to absorb 99.7% of UV and blue light, preventing photoaging from the root.

Insight 4:
Based on the common effect of anti-glare against UV and blue light, it is not only a summer task but also a year-round task.

Apart from physical sunscreen and oral supplements of vitamin C and E, it has been proven that anti-glare is also necessary in your skincare routine. Therefore, it is important to actively fight against oxidation during the day, clear excess free radicals, and use anti-aging serums/creams at night to repair light damage, which should be done all year round.

More anti-glare aging knowledge will continue to be updated...
